Pomp and Circumstance

So I know, I know its been awhile but things have been hectic to say the least. With the onset of summer comes milestones for some and we were thrilled to help celebrate the graduation of two of "our girls". Kristen and Julia and have been tremendous assets to our lives and Mayce's so we just wanted to say congrats to the girls and enjoy the fun.
Unfortunately for them every time they are around all of the littles flock to them!! From the left it is Michael, Jasmine, Mayce, Julia, Chance, and Kristen. The swing was a huge hit and they probably spent half of the time we were at the party going "back and forth, back and forth." They also took full advantage of their situation by procurring sweets from every available adult. Sleep was hard to come by the night as you can well imagine.During one of our swinging sessions we started to discuss everyone's toes and Mayce became sad when she noticed that Jasmine's toes "Don't have pink on them." Ryan quickly rectified the issue by hunting down Kristen and borrowing some nail polish. The funniest thing was that Jasmine was scared to walk on them afterwards and later when taking her bath she told Trish that she didn't want to wash her toes because she didn't want the pink to come off!!!
Just us...you can tell Mayce is so thrilled to be included in the picture. I thought this wasn't supposed to happen until she was in her teens?!?!

Put Me In Coach!!!

It's that time of year...when the field lights illuminate the night sky, your shoes are covered in dirt and you live, eat, and breathe softball. Having played ball since youth I have to say that for the most part I LOVE it. Yes at times it does get a bit tedious seeing as Buck has men's league Monday and Wednesday nights and church league takes place on Tuesdays and Thursday nights but its worth it and we hope that Mayce grows up loving the game as much as we do.
Buck was coming straight from work but Mayce and I "geared up" and headed out to the fields Thursday night. Mayce is turning into quite the big helper and decided to take care of my glove for me. For those of you who are laughing YES it is pink and just to let you know, Joshua said that if they would have had one in a 12 he would have bought one too, no matter what the color!!

During the games Mayce hangs out with all of our youth from church which works out well for everyone. Julia (who Mayce is pictured with here) has been helping out lately when we have a gap in child care and as you can see Mayce is loving it!! With Julia, who by the way until recently Mayce addressed as Loser (sorry Julia hehe), has come Danni, Courtney, and Kayln (sitting next to Julia). The thing we all find the most amusing are the adaptations of their names. Courtney will forever be known as Corny in our household and for Danni its Bambi, as for Kayln, she was doing really well but now she too has been dubbed Bambi??? Your guess is as good as mine!

Oh the joys of being little!!!

Don't feed the WHAT?!?!?!?

After arriving in Orlando and finally getting all of the details worked out for our rental car (a whole other story one that I will spare you the details) we headed for the house that my parents had rented looking for a quick nap before dinner and Universal that evening. Mayce however had other plans so we decided that it would be best to allow her the opportunity to run. The "backyard" at the house was a LAKE!! It was beautiful, calm and relaxing with ducks to boot! The only drawback was the sign...needless to say it left us shaking our head for a few moments.
Mayce loved feeding the ducks and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Funny isn't it how you can go to theme parks, aquariums, baseball games, water parks, and malls but the moments most distinctly remembered are those spent sitting on the grass feeding ducks? Whoever said the greatest treasures in life can't be purchased was wise beyond the years for the only thing we paid for this simple pleasure was $1.89...the price of the loaf of bread.
The lake actually was home to around 15 ducks but our very favorite was this momma and her babies. There were seven little ones and when asked Mayce would say without fail "They're mine".
